Description
The Yamazaki Single Cask #2J6001 Suntory Whisky Meeting 63.0 abv 1960
Cask #2J6001, Japanese Oak "Mizunara" sherry butt, distilled in 1960, bottled in 2002 for Suntory Whisky Meeting, level: please refer to images, 63.0 abv
Please note that this bottle is secured only by the paper strip over the plastic screw cap. Paper strip stained and torn on one side under the lip of the neck, but still secured in place and partially torn on the opposite side but still secured.
This bottle was exclusively created for an event - Suntory Whisky Meeting, held in 2003 at Yamazaki Distillery, with only 36 bottles produced. The event featured world famous whisky writer Dave Broom, and the late beer and whisky critic Michael Jackson. This bottle is seen as the prototype and predecessor of the later incredibly popular “Cask of Yamazaki” series. The bottle is aged for 41 years entirely in Mizunara cask, a rare feat even amongst the rarest Japanese whiskies, making this one of the oldest Mizunara cask whiskies ever created.
