In 1904, Louis Cartier designed a timepiece for the famous Brazilian aviator and Cartier's friend Alberto Santos Dumont that allowed the pilot to easily tell time while flying. The birth of Santos, symbolized not only one of the first ever watches worn on the wrist, but also the friendship between these two pioneers.
The timeless silhouette saw countless reinterpretations over the century, but retains key design elements such as the rounded angles of the dial, the seamless curve of the horns, and the exposed screws.
The present Santos features an automatic caliber 1847 MC, and is a larger interpretation of the iconic Cartier design sitting at 39.8 mm. Complete with box and papers and in excellent condition, the present Santos is a classic addition to a gentleman's everyday ensemble.
