The maximalist aesthetics of the 1970s are best represented by bold wristwatches that saw a kaleidoscope of designs featuring dazzling gem set pieces and colorful stone dials. The present Reference 6898 P by Vacheron Constantin is one such example bearing a charming tiger's eye dial.
Beneath its luxurious exterior, houses one of the most impressive mechanical movements, the caliber 1003. Work on its development began in 1952 in L’Ile, which has housed Vacheron Constantin’s historical premises since 1875, and it was presented for the brand bicentenary in 1955. This micromechanical masterpiece composed of 120 parts measures 9-lignes diameter and is just 1.64 mm thick making it the world’s thinnest mechanical movement on the market.
