Introduced in 2007, the Ballon Bleu de Cartier marked a distinctive evolution within Cartier’s celebrated watchmaking repertoire. Its evocative name, “Blue Balloon,” alludes to the signature blue sapphire cabochon crown, gracefully set within a curved protective bridge, giving the impression of suspension within the case.
Defined by its soft, rounded profile, the Ballon Bleu departed from Cartier’s emblematic rectangular forms such as the Tank and Santos. This departure created a silhouette that was both visually striking and exceptionally comfortable on the wrist, offering a refined yet contemporary option for everyday elegance.
