Rolex launched the reference 16710 in 1989, superseding the 16760 with a slimmer case profile. The watch was delivered with one of the three available bezels: plain black, red and blue (Pepsi) or black and red (Coke). The reference received various upgrades during its almost twenty-year run, including a new calibre as well as the transition from Tritium to Luminova and subsequently to SuperLuminova.
In addition to bearing the instantly recognizable Pepsi bezel insert, this timepiece is powered by the calibre 3186 with hacking seconds and quick-set functions. Only the very last pieces produced feature this calibre, making them particularly collectible.
This watch also features its original highly sought-after stick dial. This dial is most easily distinguishable through the way the II has been printed. The usual Roman 'II' of GMT Master II is replaced by two 'sticks', hence the nickname.
Preserved in superb condition, this wristwatch is offered with its original Rolex guarantee, user manual and presentation case, making this example combining the rarest characteristics of the model a compelling opportunity in an ever-strengthening market.
