Ressence

Since its founding, Ressence has pursued an alternative approach to mechanical time display, replacing conventional hands with continuously rotating discs driven by the brand’s patented ROCS system. The result is a uniquely fluid method of indicating time, combining mechanical watchmaking with an almost digital sense of legibility.

The present Type 8 represents the most distilled expression of this philosophy. Executed in lightweight titanium, the watch features a monochromatic cobalt blue dial on which the indications appear to orbit seamlessly beneath the crystal. Hours are displayed within the smaller rotating sub-dial, while the minute display is integrated directly into the larger dial surface itself, eliminating the visual hierarchy of traditional hands and markers.

The minimalist case construction and absence of a conventional crown reinforce the watch’s highly contemporary character, while the ROCS 8 module transforms the motion of the automatic calibre into Ressence’s signature orbital display. Radical in concept yet exceptionally intuitive in use, the Type 8 remains among the most distinctive approaches to modern mechanical watchmaking.
