Few designs are as immediately recognisable as the Santos-Dumont, a model whose origins trace back to the early 20th century and Louis Cartier’s collaboration with the aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. Defined by its square case, exposed screws and disciplined proportions, the model has remained one of the maison’s most enduring forms.
The present limited edition reference 4299, dating to circa 2022, introduces a striking variation through its use of platinum paired with a red lacquered bezel. This chromatic intervention transforms the otherwise restrained geometry of the case, lending the watch a more graphic and contemporary presence while preserving the classical Roman dial layout beneath.
Numbered 34 of a limited series, the watch represents a deliberate reinterpretation of an established icon, where material and colour are used to reframe a historically rooted design.
