A highly important, rare and elegant yellow gold minute repeating wristwatch, produced in an extremely limited series during the 1990s. Measuring approximately 33 mm and powered by the manual-winding calibre 2866, the reference exemplifies Audemars Piguet’s commitment to traditional haute horlogerie, with particular emphasis on acoustic refinement and discreet design. The present example is distinguished by its classical dial featuring applied Breguet numerals, reinforcing its timeless and restrained aesthetic.
The model belongs to the so-called “John Shaeffer” series, inspired by a historic minute repeating wristwatch made for the American industrialist John Wallace Shaeffer. Conceived as understated carriers of one of watchmaking’s most demanding complications, these pieces were produced in extremely small numbers, with only 15 examples cased in yellow gold. The present watch is furthermore numbered 2 within the series, enhancing its collectability and significance.
Housed in a refined cushion-shaped case with a repeater slide to the band, the watch conceals a movement of exceptional complexity. The minute repeater mechanism, activated on demand, chimes the hours, quarters and minutes with remarkable clarity, demonstrating Audemars Piguet’s long-standing mastery of this rare complication.
A quintessential example of a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” the reference 25760BA combines technical virtuosity with remarkable understatement, offering collectors a rare opportunity to acquire a highly exclusive and historically significant minute repeating wristwatch from one of the most respected manufactures in Swiss horology.
