The present example is part of a limited series of 300 pieces created in yellow gold to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1747. The caseback is engraved with the names of some of his most notable clients, a subtle nod to the maison’s historic ties to European courts and prominent public figures. This watch also offers a direct link to Breguet’s long tradition of innovation, while staying true to the brand’s refined, classical proportions. The reference 1747 was conceived specifically for this anniversary, designed in the spirit of Breguet’s early “garde-temps” timekeepers.
Inside is the self-winding twin-barrel calibre 591, fitted with a 22-carat gold rotor. The silvered dial is engine-turned by hand, with an off-centre chapter ring and a date aperture at 3 o’clock, all laid out with a strong sense of balance. This all makes the present lot a compelling opportunity to acquire a piece that reflects the legacy of one of watchmaking’s most influential figures.
