Sotheby's, London, 14 December 1995, Lot 183

The reference 8400 belongs to Breguet’s early modern Marine line, combining the maison’s classical codes with a more rounded and contemporary case profile.

The present example is executed in yellow gold and fitted with a silvered dial with guilloché centre, Roman numerals, blued Breguet hands and a date aperture at six o’clock. The fluted case band and signed crown further anchor the watch within Breguet’s established design language.

Powered by the automatic calibre 889/1, the watch is a restrained late twentieth-century interpretation of the Marine model, elegant in proportion and classical in execution.
