Please refer to our Conditions of Business for Buyers for our Buyer’s Premium in Switzerland. Please note that it is a reference 1601 and not as previously stated. Please note that the watch and the buckle are in yellow gold and not in pink gold as previously stated.

The reference 1601 is one of the defining vintage Datejust references, combining Rolex’s fluted bezel, pie-pan dial and 36 mm Oyster case.

The present yellow gold example is fitted with a white “Buckley” dial, distinguished by painted black Roman numerals rather than applied indexes. The dial’s stark typography gives the watch a sharper and more architectural appearance than standard Datejust configurations of the period.

The acrylic crystal with Cyclops magnifier and calibre 1570 firmly place the watch within Rolex’s 1970s production. Preserved with its presentation accessories, the present watch represents one of the most recognisable and collectible vintage Datejust dial variants.
