The Carrera was introduced in 1963 and offered quite a contrast to Jack Heuer’s first watch at the brand, the Autavia, and featured a smaller case (36mm case vs the 39mm for the Autavia,) and lack of rotating bezel giving it a less sporty but more elegant look.

This particular example is a very early specimen as its case number is 54'018, making particularly worth of interest for discerning collectors.

Furthermore, it features the extremely rare and sought-after matt eggshell white dial, only found on early pieces before it was replaced by the silvered sunburst standard dial. This lot fits perfectly in the serial range where these very elegant dials are found: 537xx- 542xx. The dial is correctly signed Swiss only, omitting the Ts.

Not only this configuration is extremely rare and collectible, but the matt eggshell white dial also catches the light beautifully and in an unparalleled soft way.

The inside of the caseback is correctly signed Ed. Heuer, protecting the celebrated calibre Valjoux 72.

The combination of all these rare features, combined with the attractive overall condition of this watch make it an opportunity not to be missed.
