Founded in 1884 by Greek silversmith Sotirios Voulgaris, Bulgari quickly established itself as one of Rome’s leading jewelry houses. The Serpenti, introduced in 1948, remains among the brand’s most iconic creations. Its enduring appeal was cemented in popular culture when Elizabeth Taylor famously wore one during the filming of Cleopatra in Rome, acquiring it at the Via dei Condotti boutique.

In 2000, Bulgari further strengthened its horological capabilities through the acquisitions of the Gérald Genta and Daniel Roth manufactures, gaining access to production facilities in Le Sentier that would support the development of its in-house movements. Since its introduction, the Serpenti has remained a cornerstone of the maison’s design language, influencing generations of jewelry and watchmaking alike.

The present example, executed in black ceramic, pink gold, and diamonds, represents a contemporary interpretation of the original design. Instantly recognizable, it exemplifies Bulgari’s distinctive aesthetic and continues to appeal to an international clientele.
