Timepieces bearing the Khanjar symbol are notable for their links to the Royal Family of Oman. Commissioned by by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said with the assistance of John Asprey, the trusted purveyor of luxury goods to European and Middle Eastern Royalty, along with Omani retailers Khimji Ramdas and Al Qurum Jewellery, timepieces by Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Cartier, to name only a few—were commissioned as special gifts for foreign dignitaries, military personnel, or loyal staff. The present Baume & Mercier 'Tank' featuring spiral lugs was one such example that was retailed by none other than Asprey.
