Following the introduction of the annual calendar complication by Patek Philippe in 1996, Audemars Piguet developed its own interpretation, incorporating this practical complication into the iconic Royal Oak. The reference 25920 combined the celebrated design of Gérald Genta with the sophistication of an annual calendar, all within a beautifully proportioned 36 mm case.
Distinguished by its unusual dial configuration, the reference features a central date hand and a subsidiary month indication, preserving the harmonious proportions of the Royal Oak while offering a complication requiring adjustment only once a year, at the end of February.
The present example is particularly attractive for its beautiful blue Petite Tapisserie dial, preserved in excellent condition, which contrasts elegantly with the stainless steel case and integrated bracelet. Rarely encountered at auction, the reference 25920 remains a fascinating and often overlooked chapter in the history of the Royal Oak. Accompanied by its original Certificate of Origin, presentation box and additional accessories, it represents a wonderful opportunity to acquire one of the collection’s more unusual complications.
