Tiffany & Co. produced a variety of baby gifts and keepsake boxes, many of which were engraved or embossed with beloved nursery-rhyme characters, most notably Humpty Dumpty. The character first appeared in Juvenile Amusements (1797), although the now-familiar egg-shaped portrayal emerged later and was popularized by Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking-Glass (1871).
