The use of diamond-set or gold chain motifs is characteristic of the style of Bvlgari. In this instance, the 'Stars and Stripes' collection was notably praised by Andy Warhol, who viewed it as reflecting a Pop Art sensibility in jewelry. The designs were worn by Cher and memorably photographed by Richard Avedon for Vogue. The collection also gained public attention when Nancy Reagan wore pieces during celebrations marking the centenary of the Statue of Liberty.
