Roger King (b.1936) studied at Central School of Arts and Crafts in London during the 1950s and was apprenticed by his father's jewellery company Roy C. King Ltd. In 1961, he won several prizes in the De Beers Open Competition for Modern British Jewellery. His work aligns with the broader movement of independent British goldsmiths who, post World War Two, sought to reassert craftsmanship and material integrity over mass‑produced jewellery. His jewels are typically characterised by their minimalist geometric forms in textured metal as seen on this bracelet. In the mid 1960s, aged 28, he chose to leave the jewellery trade to pursue a different path. This bracelet is an exquisite example of his brief yet successful career in jewellery.
