Description
Formed as a series of rectangular plaques, each decorated on both sides with intricate fused bead‑ and wire‑work, several accented with seed pearls and diamonds, the plaques joined by trios of grey baroque cultured pearls, to a cabochon citrine clasp.

Gerda Flöckinger CBE created the first piece of contemporary jewellery commissioned by the Victoria and Albert Museum, a testament to her status as a leading figure in the revival of 20th century British jewellery, post World War Two.
The present necklace, made in 1977 and shown in 1978 at Schmuckobjekte at Galerie Atrium, Basel, showcases Flöckinger’s mastery of fusion techniques—many of which she pioneered in the 1960s—used to build richly textured, elaborately worked surfaces. Notably, she is among the few artists to have successfully fused gold to silver and the reverse. She created multiple versions of this jewel.
