Description

oval, the lid chased with putti holding flower garlands and turtle doves around swags on a sablé ground, around three husk-framed apertures, two with domed glass covers over white enamel dials with Roman and Arabic numerals, one for hours and minutes, the other indicating seconds, the sides chased with oval vignettes of a dog drinking from a fountain, fruit baskets and musical trophies, on a reeded gold ground, further chased with classical dividers, the similarly decorated base opening to reveal a shallow snuff compartment, maker's mark PG crowned flanked by two fleurs-de-lys in a lozenge,


length 7.3 cm; 2 7/8 in.
