rectangular, the lid set with an enamel plaque painted with a classical subject, flanked by chased foliate borders on a sablé ground, within opaque cobalt blue enamel borders, the engine-turned sides and base similarly decorated with further leafy taille d'épargne enamel borders, maker's mark, Hanau lion mark, further mark, later French import mark
