“The Greek mythological character, Charon - the ferryman who transported souls to Hades - has always intrigued me. The idea of Charon at rest with two accompanying souls or shades, was born out of my fascination with this mysterious figure. Further, it seemed to express a different quality of his character, perhaps more introspective or reflective, than is often depicted in works on the subject.” – Kevin Spaulding
