The present example comes from a group of rare works that depict European figures bearing the Kangxi reign mark. Other examples of this type includes one illustrated in Michel Beurdeley, Porcelain of the East India Companies, London, 1962, fig. 12, p. 27, in the G. Duff Collection, Lisbon. Another example is illustrated in David Howard and John Ayers, China For the West, London, 1978, Vol. I, cat. no. 36, p. 78.
