the richly patinated russet iron bowl finely hammered in high relief with three stylised aoi [leaves of wild ginger], chrysanthemum-form rivets, the peak hammered with furrowed brow, the black lacquer turnbacks emblazoned with crane crests (tsuru mon), four-tiered black lacquer neck guard with close-spaced lacing in dark blue braid, the reverse with ushirodate-dai [stand for an ushirodate]
