Description

the first, circa 1790, rectangular with cut corners, the mother-of-pearl lid engraved with floral foliage within interlaced and leaftip borders, the central armorial cartouche engraved with darkened initials A.B., the mother-of-pearl sides engraved with leafy foliage, engine-turned gold base, apparently unmarked apart from control marks to rim, length 2 1/2 in., 6.3 cm.;

the second, circa 1820, of book form, all sides formed of panels of mother-of-pearl within slender gold frames and emphasised gold pins to corners, the reeded gold mounts with a small thumbpiece, apparently unmarked, length 3 in., 7.6 cm.
