rectangular, the engine-turned wavy gold ground encrusted with butterflies, flies and different flowers carved in shell, agate, mother-of-pearl, amethyst, calcedony, burgau shell and coral, the sablé mounts chased with flowers, rocailles and scrollwork around a raised floral thumbpiece centred with a sunflower, apparently unmarked apart from post-1918 French eagle's head control marks for 18ct gold,
