The reverse of the mask inscribed in white ink: “I-88” [the number slightly indistinct], and with an old red-bordered paper label inscribed in black ink: “# 15”, and “$ 250 -”, the label further inscribed in pencil or faded black ink: “le [sic] bête du to[?]reau”, and “Côte d'Ivoire”
Presumably on the Paris art market in the 1920 or 1930s (based on archival photographs of the mask)
