each painted in the center with peonies issuing from rockwork, the rim painted with floral sprigs, the base with a lingzhi mark within a double-circle, incised Japanese Palace inventory number N=198-W.

Only five Chinese porcelain dishes under the number 198 were included in the 1721 Inventarium über das Palais zu Alt-Dresden, which lists the contents of the Holländische Palais, later to become the Japanese Palace: "N. 198. 5 runde, am Rand abgesezte Schaalen, 1 Z. tief, 7 Z. in diam., [N. 198. 5 round saucer-dishes with offset rims, 1 in. deep, 7 in. in diam.]. By the 1779 inventory of the Japanese Palace, all five were still included in the collection. Today one example is retained in the Porzellansammlung, Dresden, inv. no. PO 1668.
