A compulsive and curious collector, the second part of The Manny Davidson Collection: A Life in Treasures and Benevolence, continues in the rich vein as the evening sale. Including nearly 200 lots the auction displays works chosen with the same keen eye in a multitude of fields with items drawn from Manny's homes in Paris, Monaco and Saint Paul de Vence.

A dazzling display of English and European silver and silver-gilt spanning from the 15th to 19th centuries is led by a rare pair of Apostle spoons dating to the reign of Henry VIII and previously in the collection of banking scion JP Morgan. There are also ten plates from the famed service, commissioned by Catherine the Great for her favourite, Count Gregory Orloff, in the early 1770s.

Old Master, Nineteenth century and early British paintings are represented by artists such as Tenniers the Younger, Pellegrini, Courbet, Reynolds and Landseer. Richly coloured 16th century Urbino maiolica blends seamlessly with French and Florentine bronzes and early Venetian glass, introducing yet another medium set against rich textiles from the seventeenth century.

Meissen porcelain together with Delftware and European furniture, French and English clocks, gold boxes and objects of vertu combine together cohesively to demonstrate the remarkable achievement of establishing this collection. Often separated by centuries these works of art find common ground in their remarkable quality, form and design, resulting in a remarkable unity and a testament to the great taste and exceptional eye of Manny Davidson.
