Led by the superstar tandem of Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers finished the 2000 NBA season with a 67-15 record and earned the top seed in the Western Conference. For his dominance at the center position, Shaq captured his first and only MVP trophy.
In the playoffs, the Lakers dispatched the Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, and Indiana Pacers to capture the first of three consecutive championships.
