Description
[APOLLO 11]
BUZZ ALDRIN with Lunar Module "Eagle" at Tranquility Base, SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Commander NEIL ARMSTRONG: "Neil Armstrong / Apollo 11."
Vintage color photograph, 8.5 x 11 inches, captioned: "APOLLO 11 ON THE MOON - JULY 20, 1969", NASA ID: AS11-40-5949
This photo depicts Aldrin at Tranquility Base alongside the Lunar Module “Eagle”. The photo back, printed by NASA, reads: “APOLLO 11 EVA - Astronaut Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., lunar module pilot, deploys the Early Apollo Scientific Experiments Package on the surface of the Moon during the Apollo 11 extravehicular activity. This picture was taken by Astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, commander, with a 70mm lunar surface camera. This is a good view of the Lunar Module, implanted U.S. flag, deployed equipment, and astronauts' footprints. Astronaut Michael Collins, command module pilot, remained with the Command and Service Modules in lunar orbit while Armstrong and Aldrin explored the moon.”
