Description

[APOLLO 11]

Buzz Aldrin at Tranquility Base

Large color photograph, 16 x 20 inches, by Astronaut NEIL ARMSTRONG, SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Lunar Module Pilot BUZZ ALDRIN: "Tranquility Base / July 20-21, 1969 / Buzz Aldrin"

The classic "Visor Shot" that represented one of the greatest human achievements for millions or people when it was featured in the August 8th, 1969 issue of Life Magazine. No other Apollo photograph has been reproduced as often. Neil Armstrong's photograph of Buzz Aldrin during the Apollo 11 lunar EVA is an image that encapsulated the mission: Aldrin standing there in his bulky A7L space suit with his life support system on his back and chest, the lunar surface descending into blackness behind him and his visor reflecting Armstrong, the only other human anywhere on the entire satellite planet, as well as the Lunar Module that brought them there.
