In 2015, Nike collaborated with Drake’s Toronto-based October’s Very Own (“OVO”) label to release the Air Jordan VIII OVO ‘Calipari’ Pack which featured two pairs in opposing colorways ‘Home’ and ‘Away’. Drake named the sneakers in homage to the University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari. Calipari had previously served as the head coach at the University of Memphis during a time when Drake spent much of his youth in Memphis.

Coach Calipari showed off a signed version of the sneaker pack during an interview with Complex, citing the pairs as some of the most important in his collection. He also went into further detail on his close relationship with Drake, mentioning that he attended his High School graduation ceremony and Drake even has a bedroom reserved specifically for Coach Calipari in his massive Toronto mansion.

The two colorways, named ‘Home’ and ‘Away, both feature a soft textured ‘Jumpman’ logo on the tongue with Kentucky blue details throughout the sneaker. The black pair is dressed in a predominantly black nubuck upper, while the white pair is comprised of premium white leather. OVO Owl logos can be found on the heel loop and sockliner.

Produced in extremely limited quantities, these pairs were never released to the public.
