Offered in this lot is a Promo Sample of the Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High Off-White ‘Chicago’. The pair is promo sample tagged, features two sample hang tags, and the original sample box. The sample tag notes that the pair was completed on 3/31/2017.
The pre-eminent and only Jordan sneaker of the 2017 Off White x Nike 'The Ten' Collection, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High Off-White 'Chicago' pays homage to the iconic Air Jordan 1. The extremely sought-after sneaker is dressed in a Chicago Bulls-inspired red, white, and black color scheme. Special design elements include a unique Nike Swoosh logo, “AIR” printed on the midsole, and Off-White branding on the medial side. Known for his deconstructed style, Virgil Abloh has also added unique details such as Off-White’s signature red zip-tie, branding on the laces, and “85,” the year that the Air Jordan 1 debuted, on the inner ankle flap.
When Nike tapped Off-White fashion designer Virgil Abloh to spearhead a longstanding partnership between the two brands, it would permanently alter the course of the sneaker industry. In 2017, the collaboration kicked off with a project called 'The Ten', which saw the re-design of some of Nike’s most iconic sneaker styles. To name just a few, the Air Jordan 1, Air Presto, and Converse Chuck Taylor were each given a unique Off-White twist, including industrial zip ties, exposed stitching, and “ironic” quotes.
The revival of these ten silhouettes was only the start for Off-White x Nike, as Abloh would continue to release novel Air Force 1s, over 50 pairs of Dunks, and countless other revived styles. Ultimately, this groundbreaking partnership between Off-White and the Swoosh brand set a new standard for the future of streetwear collaboration.
