Description
NIKE, NIKE NOVA TRACK SPIKES, SIZE 7
Leather, Rubber, Cotton, Synthetic
Circa 1970s
The Nike Nova was one of the brand’s first track spikes, designed as an affordable, lightweight training and competition shoe. An original advertisement describes the model as having “full leather uppers, foam tongue, and padded heel collar,” ideal for young runners. Manufactured in Puerto Rico in the early 1970s, the Nova represents an early example of Nike’s commitment to performance innovation and accessibility in track and field footwear.
This vintage pair of Nike Nova track spikes is finished in white leather with black Swooshes and remains in deadstock condition, accompanied by the original Nike box, marked “SAMPLE” on the lid. The tongues are tagged with the original lowercase cursive Nike logo, absent a registered trademark symbol, reflecting their early production in the first years of Nike. The shoes feature four-pin spike plates also stamped with the cursive Nike logo; the left plate bears a handwritten sale price of “18.95” in red ink, and the right plate indicates the size “7” in black ink. The uppers show minor cracking on the medial side of the left shoe near the outsole. White outsoles and insoles complete the design.
