Jackson’s sixth record, Thriller became his first number-one album on the Billboard charts; by the end of 1983 alone, it had sold 32 million copies worldwide. It features several of Jackson's greatest hits, including “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing),” “The Girl Is Mine,” and the eponymous “Thriller.” In 2008, the Library of Congress added the album to the National Recording Registry of “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant recordings.
