Description

A 1959 Gibson Les Paul Special, serial #923024, with double cutaway, original P90 pickups. Owned and used by Elton John guitarist Davey Johnstone from the early-mid 1970s with Elton. Used both on stage and in the studio. 


Offered with original hardshell case.

Sold by Davey Johnstone in 1976, then eventually acquired by guitar dealer Nathan Hodgson.

Per email confirmation, Davey Johnstone has noted that this guitar was used on the Elton John albums Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Video footage shows Davey Johnstone using the guitar on Elton’s cover of “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” in 1974.
