the complete set of 39 etchings on Hodgkinson handmade paper with the artist's watermarked initials

largest plates: 17 ¾ by 12 ¾ in. (45 by 32.5 cm.)

largest sheets: 27 ¼ by 17 ½ in. (69.1 by 44.6 cm.)

Executed in 1969-70, this set is the cancellation proof set aside from the numbered edition of 100 plus 15 artist's proof sets, published by Petersburg Press.

The 39 steel faced cancellation copper plates used to print Illustrations for Six Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm were gifted to the Victoria and Albert Museum by the artist and the publisher, Petersburg Press. The plates were cancelled by having a hole bored through a central part of each image within the plate.
