Circa 2024

These boots were worn by Cristiano Ronaldo during the 2024 UEFA European Championships during the group stages versus the Czech Republic on June 18th, 2024 and versus Turkey on June 22nd, 2024.

In their first group match game, Portugal secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Czechia. With this match, Ronaldo became the first player to participate in six European Championships, further extending his record for the most tournaments played by any player.

The match began with Portugal dominating possession but struggling to break down Czechia’s well-organized defense. Despite creating several chances, including a close-range shot from Cristiano Ronaldo that was saved by Czech goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek, Portugal couldn’t find the breakthrough in the first half.

The game took a surprising turn in the 62nd minute when Czechia took the lead. Lukas Provod unleashed a stunning first-time strike from outside the box, curling the ball into the top corner to give the Czechs a 1-0 advantage. However, Portugal responded swiftly, equalizing in the 69th minute thanks to an own goal.

With both teams pushing for a winner, the drama peaked in the 92nd minute. Substitute Francisco Conceição, just two minutes after coming on, scored the decisive goal. He latched onto a deflected cross from Pedro Neto and tapped it in from close range, securing a dramatic 2-1 win for Portugal.

In the next match, Ronaldo made his 27th match appearance at the Euros and registered his first goal involvement of the tournament by assisting Bruno Fernandes' third goal in the 55th minute. After being played clean through, he made an unselfish pass across the face of the six-yard box.

As the all-time leading scorer in men’s international soccer with 130 goals, Ronaldo seldom forgoes chances to add to his incredible tally. He had another milestone in mind—this assist marked his eighth at the Euros, setting a new record for the competition. In this match, Ronaldo's greatest contribution to the team was the attention he commanded from defenders, creating valuable space for his teammates to get in behind and get chances on goal. Portugal took advantage, coasting to a 3-0 victory and securing their place in the knockout phase.

The left cleat is a conclusive match to the match on June 18th, 2024 versus the Czech Republic while the right is a likely match by Resolution Photomatching. Both cleats were conclusively matched by Resolution to the first half of the game versus Turkey on June 22nd, 2024.

The lot is accompanied by a letter from James Spence Authentication in regard to the signatures.

Going Deeper - Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo debuted for Portugal in 2003 as a 17-year-old bursting with potential. His early years saw flashes of brilliance, including his contribution to Portugal’s runner-up finish at Euro 2004. Even then, his electrifying pace, dazzling skills, and hunger for success marked him as a star in the making. By the late 2000s, Ronaldo had not only become the face of Portuguese football but also its heart. He was named captain in 2008, and his leadership elevated the national team to new heights. Despite near misses in tournaments, his performances continued to inspire.

The crowning moment of Ronaldo’s international career came at Euro 2016, where Portugal clinched their first major trophy with a victory over tournament host France. Though he was injured in the final, his leadership from the sidelines was as impactful as his goals throughout the tournament. In 2019, Ronaldo added another trophy, leading Portugal to victory in the inaugural UEFA Nations League. Along the way, he shattered records, becoming the all-time leading scorer in international football and the most-capped player in history.

After 5 Ballon d’Ors, 7 UEFA Champions League scoring titles, and countless other individual accolades, Ronaldo is not only considered one of the greatest players of his era, he sits on the short list as one of the best of all time.
