JAWS. Roger Kastel for Universal Pictures, 1975.
US Drive-in poster, unfolded, linen backed, unframed: 40 x 30 in. (102 x 76 cm).
This poster was designed for drive-ins and special displays. It was printed on heavier paper stock, but unlike the standard size poster, was distributed unfolded. Over time many of this size poster were folded or destroyed. This particular piece has remained in its original state.
Far fewer of this size poster were printed compared with the standard one sheet.
Jaws invented the summer blockbuster in 1975 and was a massive hit that shattered box office records. It was the film that propelled Steven Spielberg to international fame, and frightened a whole generation out of the water.
