Description

Inverted baluster form, on four scroll feet with exuberant acanthus leaf and fruiting vine brackets, the handles formed as entwined vine branches, the rim as ribbon-tied reeds with vine ornament, engraved with a coat-of-arms, with removable liner, hallmarked on the side of the body and the liner, the base stamped Storr & Mortimer.

The arms are for Francis Baring (1800-1868), from 1864 3rd Baron Ashburton, and his wife Hortense Claire Maret (1812-1882) daughter of Hugues-Bernard Maret (1763-1839), Duc de Bassano of Bourg, France.
