painted after Watteau with vignettes of elegant figures in parkland within moulded quatrefoil cartouches on a ground applied with densely packed blue flowerheads, supported on a base pierced and cast with scrolls, the rim applied with foliage and pendant ribbon bows, the mounts with a spurious c poinçon mark


Height 35.5 cm., 14 in.

Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected, a result consistent with 18th century manufacture.
