Rui Hachimura was born in Toyama, Japan, and also played high school basketball there. In 2013, Hachimura led the Meisei High School basketball team to its second title in the All-Japan High School Tournament and soon after committed to Gonzaga. He has represented the Japanese national team in both the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 and the Paris Olympics in 2024 as an important star for the team.
Rui Hachimura was drafted with the 9th pick in the 1st round of the 2019 NBA Draft out of Gonzaga University. At the time of cataloging, he has career averages of 12.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
Hachimura was a 2019-20 All-Rookie 2nd Team selection.
