SPALDING, SPALDING BASKETBALL

2004

This ball was issued for the 2004 NBA Finals when the Los Angeles Lakers played the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons defeated the Lakers in 5 games, capturing their 3rd championship in franchise history.

The 2004 NBA Finals featured the Detroit Pistons and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Pistons won the series 4-1, pulling off a major upset against a star-studded Lakers team that included Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone, and Gary Payton.

Detroit's victory was fueled by their stifling defense, unselfish play, and strong team chemistry, led by Chauncey Billups (who was named Finals MVP), Ben Wallace, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, and Rasheed Wallace. The Pistons dominated with a team-first approach, holding the Lakers under 100 points in every game and shocking many with their dominance.
