A pair of rock crystal 'Buddhist lion' seals
Qing dynasty, Daoguang - Guangxu period
清道光至光緒 水晶雕佛獅鈕「陳湜之印」「舫仙」方印一對

Chen Shi (1832–1896), also known as Fangxian, was from Xiangxiang, Hunan. He joined the Xiang Army in 1856 and helped suppress the Taiping Rebellion under Zeng Guoquan. Later, he served as the Provincial Judicial Commissioner of Shaanxi and Shanxi, participating in the suppression of the Nian Rebellion. During the First Sino-Japanese War (1894–1895), Chen defended Shanhaiguan and was posthumously promoted to Provincial Administrative Commissioner of Jiangxi and awarded the title of Junior Guardian of the Heir Apparent.
陳湜(1832-1896),字舫仙,湖南湘鄉人。咸豐六年(1856)加入湘軍,隨曾國荃鎮壓太平天國。歷任陝西、山西按察使,參與鎮壓捻軍。甲午戰爭期間率軍駐守山海關,戰後擢江西布政使。未及赴任,復駐山海關。卒贈太子少保。
