  • A powerful terracotta sculpture by Austrian artist Kurt Hüpfner
  • Depicts the biblical figure Cain, exploring themes of guilt and existential conflict

Kurt Hüpfner was a prolific Austrian artist whose work spanned over 3,000 pieces, including sculptures, paintings, and drawings. His art often delved into themes of prophecy, mythology, and the human condition. Kain, executed in 1997, is a striking example of his exploration of biblical narratives. The sculpture portrays Cain, the firstborn son of Adam and Eve, who, according to the Bible, committed the first murder by killing his brother Abel. Hüpfner's depiction captures the essence of guilt and existential conflict, inviting viewers to reflect on the complexities of human nature.
