The present work is an early painting executed in Brockhurst's signature Renaissance portraiture style, which brought him great acclaim and commercial success across the U.K., Ireland and the U.S. The sitter is Florence Forsyth, who was a singer in London, commissioned by her father, and she clutches a sprig of white flowers.
