Raised in his father’s sculpture studio and trained under Adolfo Wildt at the Brera Academy, Fontana mastered traditional techniques but constantly pushed boundaries. His time at the Manufacture de Sèvres inspired his use of ceramics, a medium he transformed with his ever evolving ideas. On the Ligurian coast in the small town of Albissola, Fontana redefined the relationship between material and space, creating works that bridge the historical craft of ceramics and modern abstraction.
