Among Karl Lagerfeld's many sources of inspiration, literature is a recurring theme. His library of over 300,000 books is legendary. One book in particular inspired what is perhaps one of his most elaborate photographic works - his photo-artistic staging of the ancient love story of the shepherds Daphnis and Chloë by Longus.
The images were taken in the south of France, in a forest near Ramatuelle with models Baptiste Giabiconi, Bianca Balti, Abbey Kershaw, Jake Davies and Sébastien Jondeau and were published as Mythologie Moderne in 2014.
