woodblock print, surimono, embellished with metallic pigment and embossing, depicting a small two-panel table screen and an assortment of shells, from the series Souvenirs of Enoshima (Enoshima kiko), signed Hokkei, privately issued for the Manji Poetry Circle (Manji-ren), 1833, poems by Shinshutei Shigekado and Shinshotei Sanenori of Morioka; with collector’s seal of Gerhard Pulverer to the verso

Spring is young
so the colour of the screen of mist
on Enoshima
is pale
like the plum and cherry shells.
Haru wakami
kasumu byobu no
Enoshima ya

ume sakuragai
